SPOTIFY streamed a total of almost 7 million podcasts over the past year, and compiled stats as to the most streamed genres in various cities and states. 

By fat the most popular topics are crime-and-mystery podcasts, such as “My Favorite Murder,” “Crime Junkie,” and “Crimetown,” but SPOTIFY created heat maps to show what each state streamed the most, and another heatmap to show what the 20 US cities that streamed the most listened to.

Crime and Mystery was followed, in order, by Comedy, News & Politics, Health and the Arts as the most-streamed podcast genres on SPOTIFY. 

The 20 U.S. cities that streamed the most podcasts are, in order: CHICAGO, L.A., NEW YORK, DALLAS, ATLANTA, HOUSTON, SAN FRANCISCO, SEATTLE, BROOKLYN, DENVER, PHILADELPHIA, MINNEAPOLIS, WASHINGTON, DC, PORTLAND, ARLINGTON, CLEVELAND, PHOENIX, ORLANDOK, THE BRONX and BOSTON.
