BMG Names Jonathan Palmer SVP Creative Synch

BMG has appointed longtime music industry executive JONATHAN PALMER to SVP/Creative Synch, based in LOS ANGELES. PALMER will now lead the creative synch teams in both NEW YORK and L.A., while working alongside the U.S. and international synch licensing teams, reporting directly to Global EVP Marketing & Licensing PATRICK JOEST.

Prior to joining BMG,PALMER was a principal at the multi-faceted boutique music firm A SUIT OF LEAVES, where he represented record labels, music publishers, artists and songwriters for licensing across all media, with clients including RIPTIDE MUSIC, FACTION MANAGEMENT, COOKING VINYL, WAX LTD, SYN MUSIC, CAST MANAGEMENT, and a wide range of indie artists. His music supervision for film, TV and advertising clientele included NETFLIX, MTV, NBC, ABC and HBO, among many others.. Previously he served in creative licensing at SONGS MUSIC PUBLISHING, supervising the licensing and pitching team working together with writers and managers to oversee the marketing of copyrights across all media.
Palmer began his career in film and TV music at music publisher BUG MUSIC, working with an array of artists including IGGY POP, ROSANNE CASH, RYAN ADAMS and the catalogs of JOHNNY CASH and WILLIE DIXON. He held a similar post at SONY/ATV where his roster of writers included the catalog of THE BEATLES.
PALMER also worked in recorded music overseeing licensing at SANCTUARY RECORDS, creating impactful marketing and licensing opportunities for artists including IRON MAIDEN and the catalogs of THE KINKS, DONOVAN and TROJAN RECORDS. Later, he joined COLUMBIA RECORDS, where he created soundtrack initiatives and oversaw media placement for a frontline roster that included ADELE, JOHN LEGEND, BEYONCE and AC/DC.
He is a member of NARAS, the GUILD OF MUSIC SUPERVISORS, ASCAP, and AMERICAN FEDERATION FO MUSICIANS, as the lead singer, songwriter, and producer for pop group LOVE JONES..
