CPB Taps 17 Stations For Digital Culture Accelerator

The CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING (CPB) has named 17 public media stations to participate in the second round of the DIGITAL CULTURE ACCELERATOR, Created to spur digital transformation at public media stations by breaking down silos, creating alignment, exploring digital tools and opportunities, and inspiring organizational change.
CPB Chief Content And Innovation Officer MAJA MRKOCI commented, “We are pleased by the great interest exhibited by public media stations in participating in the second round of the DIGITAL CULTURE ACCELERATOR. As CPB continues to make strategic investments into public media’s future, helping stations adjust their organizational processes and culture will be at the core of our multi-faceted approach.”
The 17 stations include ARKANSAS EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION NETWORK, CONNECTICUT PUBLIC MEDIA, IOWA PUBLIC RADIO, KCPT and KCUR/KANSAS CITY, KQED/SAN FRANCISCO; MISSISSIPPI PUBLIC BROADCASTING; NASHVILLE PUBLIC TELEVISION, NEBRASKA EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION, NEW HAMPSHIRE PUBLIC RADIO, PBS SOCAL, PUBLIC BROADCASTING ATLANTA, ROCKY MOUNTAIN PBS, VERMONT PBS, WJCT/JACKSONVILLE, WUCF/ORLANDO and WVIA/SCRANTON.
These stations will join WUNC-TV/CHAPEL HILL, NC,, IDEASTREAM (CLEVELAND), and WBHM-FM/BIRMINGHAM, AL, which participated in a successful pilot project that resulted in increases in engagement and membership revenue, while driving innovations in how the stations are serving their communities. All 20 stations will serve as ambassadors for the initiative to spread the model and its approaches throughout the public media system.
The initiative is being led by QCATALYST, a digital transformation and product development firm whose partners have led digital departments and initiatives at major brands such as PBS, WGBH, ABC-TV, and the WASHINGTON POST.
