As tipped well over a month ago (NET NEWS, 11/12), CUMULUS News-Talk WLS-A/CHICAGO has named mancow muller as its new morning show, starting JANUARY 3rd. ROBERTFEDER.COM reports that MULLER succeeds BIG JOHN HOWELL and RAMBLIN’ RAY STEVENS, whose last day was DEC.21st. HOWELL will segue to 5-7p weekdays.
MULLER, a 25-year CHICAGO radio vet, previously worked at classic rock WLUP (THE LOOP)/CHICAGO, but was let go when CUMULUS sold the station to EMF (NET NEWS, 4/3). He did work once before that WLS-A, co-hosting middays with PAT CASSIDY from 2008 to 2010.
“I think really I am stepping into my time finally,” MULLER told FEDER. “I think I was ahead of my time in CHICAGO radio. The constant battle that I had with program directors was that my show was just too doggone fast. The radio I hear today is so achingly slow and doesn’t fit in with our current modern lifestyles. Much of the competition borders on tedium. I think the time is right for me to return to WLS."
