IHEARTMEDIA is launching a new News-Talk station in WASHINGTON on an HD2 and translator combo. "WONK-FM" will air on WWDC-FM-HD2 and W284CQ (104.7 FM) and follows a stunt celebrating "National WONK Day."
The lineup will include anchors STACY LYN and ALEXANDRA LANE with news 6a-6p (ET), interspersed with reactions from iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk stations nationwide. Sister WRKO-A/BOSTON PD MICHAEL CZARNECKI will move to D.C. to serve as PD.
“WONKs are the behind the scenes people in D.C. who are innovators, experts and are passionate about their work,” said Region President MICHAEL PREACHER. “D.C.’s WONKs are the unsung heroes who solve the world’s most difficult problems and they deserve to have a dedicated platform.”
“With the accelerated pace of the today’s news cycle, we look forward to providing a contemporary approach to delivering a ‘wonk-centric’ and uniquely D.C. view of the news,” said CZARNECKI. “I’m thrilled to be joining the iHERTMEDIA team in WASHINGTON, D.C. as part of WASHINGTON's WONK-FM.”
