URBAN ONE founder and Chairperson CATHY HUGHES will be inducted into the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS Broadcasting Hall of Fame during the Achievement in Broadcasting Dinner at the 2019 NAB SHOW in LAS VEGAS on APRIL 8th.
HUGHES began her career at KOWH-A/OMAHA, then served as GSM at HOWARD UNIVERSITY's WHUR/WASHINGTON and as a lecturer at the college's School of Communications before buying WOL-A/WASHINGTON, where she instituted the station's successful News-Talk format aimed at the African-American community and also hosted a show.
“CATHY HUGHES is a truly remarkable broadcaster and entrepreneur whose contributions continue to greatly influence and drive our industry,” said NAB President and CEO GORDON SMITH. “We look forward to honoring Cathy with this well-deserved award at this year’s NAB SHOW.” HUGHES was awarded the NAB Distinguished Service Award in 2001.
FOX NFL SUNDAY will also be induced into the NAB Hall of Fame at the ceremony. The football pregame television show has a simulcast on FOX SPORTS RADIO.
