The winter storms that recently dumped rain across SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA mattered not a bit to everyone who packed the legendary TROUBADOUR CLUB in HOLLYWOOD for a performance by CAPITOL RECORDS’ exciting new singer-songwriter, FREYA RIDINGS.
The sold-out venue provided the perfect setting for the U.K. artist’s official LOS ANGELES debut.
From the first notes of the joyous opener, “Love Is Fire,” she led the audience on a journey, using songs performed with passion and filled with introspective lyrics. Three songs into the set, she dedicated the beautiful “You Mean The World To Me” to her mother, back home in LONDON.
Mid-show, Freya Showed Her Skills On The Guitar RIDINGS explained that some of the songs were written during a dark period in her life, following the breakup of a relationship. This was most apparent in the sublime “Lost Without You,” a Top 10 single for her in the U.K. (and a favorite of TAYLOR SWIFT), which was the first of her two encore performances.
Several members of the radio community were spotted enjoying the music, including KBIG & KOST/LOS ANGELES’ JOHN PEAKE and BRANDON BELL, MAT MITCHELL from KMXP & KZZP/PHOENIX, WXSS & WMYX/MILWAUKEE’s BRIAN KELLY, DAVID ADAMS from KMYI/TUCSON, DAVE NUMME from KEZR/SAN JOSE and MICHELLE MATTHEWS from WVMX/COLUMBUS.
ALL ACCESS wishes to thank our friends at the CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP, GREG MARELLA, PATTY MORRIS and NIKKI NOLETTI for another great night of musical entertainment.
