STEVE BLASS, the former PITTSBURGH PIRATES pitcher who has been part of the team's radio and TV broadcast crew since 1983, has announced that the 2019 season will be his last with the PIRATES as a broadcaster.
BLASS, 76, has been with the PIRATES as a pitcher, community service staffer, and broadcaster since 1960, making the 2019 season his 60th with the BUCS. He moved into the TV booth alongside legendary Hall of Famer BOB PRINCE in 1983, then to the radio side in 1986; in 2005, he switched to calling only home games on TV and radio.
The PIRATES, whose games are heard on a four-state network based at ENTERCOM Sports KDKA-F (93.7 THE FAN)/PITTSBURGH, will honor BLASS with a special on-field ceremony and bobblehead giveaway at PNC PARK on SEPTEMBER 28th. He will remain with the team as an alumni ambassador.
