One of the worst-kept secrets in baseball broadcasting is now official, as ENTERCOM News WCBS-A/NEW YORK has announced that NEW YORK METS games will be called by incumbent HOWIE ROSE and former pre-game and post-game host WAYNE RANDAZZO, who replaces JOSH LEWIN (reportedly joining the SAN DIEGO PADRES). ED COLEMAN will host pre-game coverage including the manager's show with METS manager MICKEY CALLAWAY, while RANDAZZO will host post-game shows and WCBS morning sports anchor BRAD HELLER will be "utility player" for the broadcasts.
“This is an exciting time for WCBS 880 as we launch our inaugural season of NEW YORK METS broadcast coverage,” said ENTERCOM NEW YORK Regional President and Market Manager SUSAN LARKIN. “METS fans are some of the most passionate fans in baseball, and we trust, behind HOWIE, WAYNE and the rest of the broadcast team, they will consistently turn to this historic station for coverage of their favorite team.”
METS EVP/CRO LOU DEPAOLI added, “We’re thrilled once again to be part of the ENTERCOM family that enables our fans to enjoy METS baseball on such a historic station like WCBS 880 with a tremendous reach.”
WCBS will air 10 spring training games this season before carrying the entire regular season schedule.
