Country Music Hall Of Famer Maxine Brown Russell Dies At 87

ALL ACCESS extends condolences to the family, friends, and fans of MAXINE BROWN RUSSELL, a member of COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME-inducted group THE BROWNS, who passed away on MONDAY, JANUARY 21st at BOWMAN HOSPICE in LITTLE ROCK from complications of heart and kidney disease. She was 87, and had been the last surviving member of the Country music trio, which also included sister BONNIE RING and brother JIM ED BROWN.
THE BROWNS enjoyed a lengthy career that spanned the 1950s and ‘60s and produced such Top 10 hits as "The Three Bells," "I Take The Chance," “Here Today And Gone Tomorrow,” ”Scarlet Ribbons (For Her Hair)," and "I Heard The Bluebirds Sing." As a songwriter, her first success came with THE BROWNS’ 1954 hit "Looking Back To See." The group joined the GRAND OLE OPRY in 1963 and was inducted into the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME in 2015. In 2012, RUSSELL was awarded the ELLA DICKEY Literary Award for her 2005 autobiography, “Looking Back To See.”
She is survived by two children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The viewing has been set for SUNDAY, JANUARY 27th FROM 3-5p at NORTH LITTLE ROCK FUNERAL HOME in NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR. The service will be on MONDAY, JANUARY 28th AT 11a at FIRST ASSEMBLY OF GOD church in NORTH LITTLE ROCK, followed by the burial at 2:30p at PINE BLUFF MEMORIAL PARK.
