PINNA, the children's subscription podcast, audiobook, and music service developed by PANOPLY MEDIA before that company's pivot to becoming a technology firm, has launched as a stand-alone company backed by GRAHAM MEDIA HOLDINGS and headed by CEO MAGGIE MCGUIRE, formerly an executive at SCHOLASTIC. The service, targeting children 3-8 years old. will be available first via iOS for $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year and will include material from SCHOLASTIC, HIGHLIGHTS FOR CHILDREN, and AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA; original podcasts will include "EXTRABLURT" and "GRIMM, GRIMMER, GRIMMEST," plus the existing "THE UNEXPLAINED DISAPPEARANCE OF MARS PATEL."
"Parents are increasingly looking for options to balance the amount of screen time and other entertainment activities their children access daily. The rising popularity of podcasts among all ages proves there is an appetite for audio-led, imagination-activating, immersive storytelling. PINNA's audio network of podcasts, stories and songs encourages active listening, conversation, social interaction and imaginative play," said MCGUIRE. "In this one app, parents can trust they'll find quality, age-appropriate entertainment in a variety of audio formats and story lengths spanning all of their favorite themes while covering multiple age levels -- all free from ads."
