The ARKANSAS statewide afternoon sports radio show "SPORTS TALK WITH BO MATTINGLY" is coming to an end on radio. The show, produced by MATTINGLY's SPORT&STORY, will have its final broadcast on FEBRUARY 28th.
MATTINGLY's show has aired since 2007 on stations across ARKANSAS including HOG RADIO Sports KAKS (ESPN 99.5)/AFAYETTEVILLE and CUMULUS Sports KARN-A (920 AM THE SPORTS ANIMAL)/LITTLE ROCK; the company says that a "shift in focus" to podcasting and film production is the reason for the end of the show, with a weekly podcast for UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS fans scheduled to make a MARCH debut. SPORT&STORY has produced the BEINGTV series for ESPN.
In a release announcing the show's end, MATTINGLY said, "Our plans include producing premier content for sports fans all over the world, starting right here in ARKANSAS. As part of our expansion, it has become obvious that RAZORBACK fans want more. This format will allow us to give ARKANSAS fans content in a way they've never had it before. It's time to take the next step. We are investing all of our access, interviews and resources into giving HOG fans a whole new experience, filled with insights, stories they can tell and so much more... As a company, we've always been interested in producing creative content beyond radio. I look forward to the new stories we are going to be able to tell on these wide-reaching platforms, but our listeners and RAZORBACK fans will always be important to us, and we remain committed to developing local content for them in exciting new ways."
