NAB PILOT Program Announces Winners Of Innovation Challenge

The winners of the NAB's PILOT program's third annual PILOT Innovation Challenge were announced at the NAB FUTURES conference in SEATTLE. Winners will receive prizes between $15,000 and $30,000. The six winners were picked from 12 finalists, all addressing the question “What is an innovative way broadcasters and other local media could serve communities?”
The winners include:
- SAMUEL CRANE, FlyRight - software for drone flight registration for media groups and local law enforcement
- DANIEL LEWIS, TUFTS UNIVERSITY, Podium - virtual "town halls" and crowdsourced interviews.
- MARIO DCUNHA, THE NEW SCHOOL, Zagrut - news reader app
- RETHA HILL, CRONKITE SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM at ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY, AR Stories - platform to create augmented reality stories without needing to learn coding
- RONALD BAEZ, YELLOW WOOD IMMERSIVE, I.D.E.A - 3D mapping tool for weather emergencies
- RODNEY GIBBS, THE TEXAS TRIBUNE, Lawmaking Live - live analysis of policy development
