The backup of applications that accumulated during the government shutdown is beginning to show up in the FCC database now that the agency is back in action.
Among the filings popping up MONDAY morning, the paperwork has been filed to transfer WGN CONTINENTAL BROADCASTING COMPANY, LLC, licensee of News-Talk WGN-A and independent WGN-TV/CHICAGO from TRIBUNE MEDIA shareholders to NEXSTAR MEDIA GROUP, INC. as part of NEXSTAR's acquisition of TRIBUNE MEDIA for $6.4 billion.
COMMUNITY BROADCASTERS, LLC is selling Country WPGI (100.9 THE WOLF), News-Talk WWLZ-A, and W267CJ/HORSEHEADS, NY; Classic Country WRCE-A/WATKINS GLEN, NY; Top 40 WNKI (WINK 106)/CORNING, NY; Rock WNGZ (WINGZ 104.9)/MONTOUR FALLS, NY; and Country WPIG (95.7 THE BIG PIG) and Top 40 WHDL-A-W296DB (HOT 107.1)/OLEAN, NY to KRISTIN CANTRELL's SOUTHERN BELLE, LLC (licenses) and SEVEN MOUNTAINS MEDIA OF NY, LLC (assets) for $3.9 million.
WWGP BROADCASTING CORPORATION is selling Country WWGP-A-W236DE and Classic Hits WFJA (CLASSIC HITS 105.5)/SANFORD, NC to JON LANE HOCKADAY's SANDHILLS BROADCASTING GROUP LLC for $630,000 plus a time brokerage agreement before closing.
GREAT SOUTH WIRELESS, LLC is selling Sports WZZN (97.7 THE ZONE)/UNION GROVE-HUNTSVILLE, AL to WILLIAM WESLEY NEIGHBORS, JR.'s NEIGHBORS BROADCAST COMPANY, LLC for $535,000 ($100,000 at closing, $435,000 in a seven year promissory note) plus a time brokerage agreement before closing.
WYZE RADIO, INC. is selling Silent WYZE-A/ATLANTA to RAY NEAL's NEW GROUND BROADCASTING, LLC for $20,000.
WSPY-TV, INC. is selling W245CE/MORRIS, IL to GRUNDY COUNTY BROADCASTERS, INC. for $29,254.63. The primary station is the buyer's Classic Hits WCSJ-A/MORRIS, IL.
AWAKEN FM, INC. is transferring Silent WZQY/GLADE SPRING, VA back to DAVID W. BLAIR for release of a $275,000 promissory note after losing its lease on its currently licensed tower site.
And applying for STAs were CUMULUS' RADIO LICENSE HOLDING CBC, LLC (KNEK-A/WASHINGTON, LA, reduced power to get station back on the air despite transmitter problems); CUMULUS LICENSING LLC (KIKR-A/BEAUMONT, TX, reduced power to get station back on the air despite transmitter problems; KNSH-A/CANYON, TX, same issues); BASIN MEDIACTIVE, LLC (KAGO-A/KLAMATH FALLS, OR, reduced power omnidirectionally at night due to problems with directional system).
