Longtime WBZ-A/BOSTON news anchor GARY LAPIERRE passed away TODAY (2/4) at 76. LAPIERRE died at his home in IPSWICH, MA; he had been battling leukemia.
LAPIERRE spent his entire 44 year career at WBZ, starting as an intern in 1964 and eventually becoming a reporter and then anchor, winning an EDWARD R. MURROW Award in 1998 before retiring at the end of 2006. He also served as a fill-in anchor on then-sister WBZ-TV for several years.
