With SPRING Training imminent, the OAKLAND ATHLETICS don't have a radio flagship lined up yet, but the club has added a broadcaster, and one from the station the team exited in acrimony after last season, no less.
ENTERCOM Sports KGMZ (95.7 THE GAME)/SAN FRANCISCO 7-11p (PT) weeknight host CHRIS TOWNSEND has joined the A's as a host and producer, the team announced in a tweet and video TODAY (2/6). In the video, TOWNSEND did not mention where the team's games will be heard, although he said "it's all gonna start (with the) first game of SPRING Training, FEBRUARY 21st."
Meanwhile, the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE's SUSAN SLUSSER is reporting that the A'S are close to a deal with a streaming service and a local radio station, with an announcement expected in "the next week or two" and game broadcasters KEN KORACH and VINCE COTRONEO returning.
We are happy to announce that Chris Townsend will be joining the A's family!
