Nielsen: Music Download Sales Show "Dramatic Increase"

NIELSEN SOUNDSCAN figures for the year to date show what the research company calls a "dramatic increase" in digital download music sales for 2006. The company says sales are up 67% to about 525 million downloads, up 173 million from the total number for 2005. 2005's increase was 150% over 2004's. In addition, 54 tracks have each sold over 500,000 units via download, and downloaded album sales have jumped over 100% year-to-year.
