JOE ANGEL, the longtime baseball broadcaster who has been calling BALTIMORE ORIOLES games on ENTERCOM Sports WJZ-F (105.7 THE FAN)/BALTIMORE, has officially announced his retirement after 42 years, 19 of which he spent with the O'S.
ANGEL, known for his "wave that baby bye-bye!" and "hasta la vista pelota!" home run calls, "The ORIOLES are in the win column!" victory statement, and flair for pronouncing Latin names (as a native of COLOMBIA), announced his retirement on TWITTER THURSDAY afternoon.
His long major league baseball announcing career included stints with the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS, MINNESOTA TWINS, NEW YORK YANKEES, FLORIDA (now MIAMI) MARLINS, and ESPN, along with calling ORIOLES games in 1988-90, 1992, and 2004-2018.
You may have heard..after 42 years..the game has ended. I wind up “IN THE WINNN COLUMN” Thank you Baltimore for the privilege, memories and Lovely Totals. I will miss you.
