BIG MACHINE RECORDS’ CARLY PEARCE sat down with “The Art Of The Artist Visit” panel at COUNTRY RADIO SEMINAR (CRS) to talk about how to make the experience of visiting a radio station fun and unique for both the station and the artist. iHEARTMEDIAS Country WBWL/BOSTON air personality COLTON BRADFORD shared, “The best interviews are conversations. You can’t prep too much for an interview. You can’t come up with too many questions. So, what I would say is to spend at least a half an hour thinking about how you can have a genuine conversation with this artist, because if you can, then that’s going to come through to your listeners or to your fans online, and that’s going to make the artist look like your best friend."
Before the visit, “Make sure you have a current photo of the artist" to promote their appearance, BIG MACHINE RECORDS Dir./Regional Promotion BROOKE DIAZ stated. PEARCE shared the story of a previous station visit experience where an older photo of her was used, and she jokingly added, “No one is going to know who that is.”
The panel wrapped up by offering tips on what to do after the artist visit, which include using the audio/video/pictures for the station’s web site and socials (FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM) and for future contests, concert announcements, or promotions.
