Add "Hall of Famer" to the accolades for retiring LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS announcer RALPH LAWLER, who was named one of two 2019 CURT GOWDY Media Award recipients by the NAISMITH MEMORIAL BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME along with NEW YORK TIMES reporter and former ESPN, LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS, and ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER basketball columnist MARC STEIN.
LAWLER has called CLIPPERS games for 40 seasons, joining the then-SAN DIEGO CLIPPERS in 1978 after a stint at then-CBS O&O WCAU-TV and News-Talk WCAU-A/PHILADELPHIA; he has called the CLIPS on both radio and TV, most recently primarily as play-by-play announcer on FOX SPORTS PRIME TICKET's CLIPPERS coverage and shifting to iHEARTMEDIA/DODGERS Sports KLAC-A (AM 570 LA SPORTS)/LOS ANGELES for radio play-by-play on nights the games are not on local television.
