The FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (FCC) will hold a media diversity symposium at the FCC Headquarters in WASHINGTON, D.C. on THURSDAY, MARCH 7th. The panel, moderated by KIZART MEDIA PARTNERS Managing Dir. SHERMAN KIZART, will spotlight success stories of minority-owned and women-owned media businesses. Panelists will be SBS Chairman/CEO RAUL ALACRON, PERRY BROADCASTING PUBLISHING Chairman/CEO RUSSELL PERRY, ROBERTS BROADCASTING CEO STEVE ROBERT and SHAW BROADCASTING Pres. JOHNNY SHAW.
"FCC Chairman PAI's vision was crystal clear when he issued the directive to the FCC Diversity Committee of creating this important minority media symposium," SHERMAN KIZART said. "As a member of the FCC Diversity Committee, it's an honor, privilege and opportunity to lead the discussion with noted African-American and Hispanic broadcast authorities and visionaries who are indeed pioneers and trailblazers. There isn't a more crucial and pivotal time to better understand the importance of minority and women ownership and learn ways to significantly increase this ownership in the broadcast landscape.”
Also at the symposium, NBC NEWS White House Correspondent KRISTEN WELKER will deliver the keynote address, FCC Chairman AJIT PAI will speak (via video) and FCC Commissioners MICHAEL O’RIELLY, BRENDAN CARR and GEOFFREY STARKS will address attendees in person. The symposium will examine a range of issues in regards to best practices for minorities and women in broadcasting and related industry sectors.
