The death of comedian BRODY STEVENS in an apparent suicide FRIDAY (2/22) at 48 shook not only the comedy world but podcasting as well.
The idiosyncratic comic, whose standup and intense persona were revered within the LOS ANGELES comedy community, hosted "BRODY STEVENS FESTIVAL OF SPORTS" for ALL THINGS COMEDY and "THE STEVEN BRODY STEVENS FESTIVAL OF FRIENDSHIP," both active at the time of his death. The former ARIZONA STATE pitcher previously hosted two other short-lived podcasts, "THE BRODY STEVENS EXPERIMENT" and "BRODE AND ESTHER," the latter with ESTHER POVITSKY and BRIAN REDBAN. He was also a frequent guest on other podcasts and JAY MOHR's FOX SPORTS RADIO show.
STEVENS (born STEVEN JAMES BRODY) also was a guest on many television shows and was the star of the HBO and COMEDY CENTRAL web series "BRODY STEVENS: ENJOY IT!" and was known for his appearances in "THE HANGOVER" and "THE HANGOVER PART II." He served as the warm-up comic for several television series, notably COMEDY CENTRAL's "@MIDNIGHT," on which he also occasionally appeared as a panelist.
