STITCHER Chief Business Development Officer LEX FRIEDMAN and Chief Revenue Officer KORRI KOLESA are exiting the SCRIPPS-owned podcast company to join ART19. After HOT POD's NICK QUAH broke the news, FRIEDMAN confirmed that he will be joining ART19 as Chief Revenue Officer and KOLESA will serve as COO.
FRIEDMAN joined what was then podcast network and sales organization MIDROLL MEDIA (STITCHER later took over as SCRIPPS' podcast umbrella brand) in 2013 after his PODLEXING sales company merged with MIDROLL. He previously wrote for MACWORLD and served as Senior Director of Product and Community at DEMAND MEDIA. KOLESA was upped to Chief Revenue Officer at STITCHER last year and previously worked at MYSPACE.
In a release sent late TUESDAY, ART19 CEO SEAN CARR said, “We are excited to have KORRI and LEX join the team. Their technology backgrounds, advertiser relationships, and proven success at monetizing podcasts makes them a perfect fit to spearhead our expansion efforts.”
"The level of talent and quality of content in podcasting keeps rising,” said KOLESA. “Traditional approaches to podcast sales will need to evolve for revenue to catch up with the spectacular growth of listening in the space. ART19 is focused on building the innovative tools that advertisers need to better connect with audiences --- and to make hosts more money for the same great shows they already love making.
QUAH also reports that at STITCHER, Regional VP of Sales GREG LEADER will serve as interim Head of Sales and VP of Partnerships DREW WELBORN will pick up additional business development responsibilities. Some personal news: After six years, I am leaving @Stitcher/@Midroll to join ART19 (@art19co) as its Chief Revenue Officer.
And my friend Korri Kolesa is joining as Chief Operating Officer, too!
