THE BLUES FOUNDATION will induct the 40th class of BLUES HALL OF FAME at a special ceremony at the HALLORAN CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS AND EDUCATION in MEMPHIS on MAY 8th. The five performers entering the BLUES HALL OF FAME include ARETHA FRANKLIN, COUNT BASIE, IDA COX, PEE WEE CRAYTON and BOOKER T. & the MG's, while entering the Business, Academic, Media & Production category is MOSES “MOE” ASCH.
Recordings being honored are ELMORE JAMES’ The Sky Is Crying and his song “Shake Your Moneymaker;” B.B. KING’s tune, “Everyday I Have the Blues;” MUDDY WATERS' song, “Rollin’ Stone;” RAY CHARLES’ “I Got a Woman;” and BESSIE SMITH’s “The St. Louis Blues.”
