Former TRIBUNE Sports WGWG-LP (87.7 THE GAME)/CHICAGO sports update anchor LAUREN LAPKA is returning to CHICAGO radio as midday and afternoon traffic reporter for TRIBUNE News-Talk WGN-A, reports ROBERTFEDER.COM. LAPKA will also host a video series, "WEEKEND WARNINGS," on WGNRADIO.COM.
LAPKA, who left CHICAGO to move into television at NEXSTAR ABC Affiliate KODE-TV-NBC affiliate KSNF-TV/JOPLIN, MO and SINCLAIR CBS affiliate KVAL-TV/EUGENE, OR, will start at WGN on MARCH 14th, replacing VIOLETA PODRUMEDIC, who exited to join ERIC FERGUSON's morning show at crosstown HUBBARD Hot AC WTMX (101.9 THE MIX).
LAPKA's tenure at KVAL was highlighted by her refusal to record one of SINCLAIR's controversial company-wide promo video/editorials for which the company has been widely criticized.
“Having LAUREN back in the WGN RADIO family is a huge win for afternoon drive,” said Station Manager/VP of Content RODD MANLEY. “Her playful intelligence is the perfect complement to (afternoon hosts) ROE (CONN) & ANNA (DAVLANTES) and (midday host) JOHN WILLIAMS.”
