RCA NASHVILLE star CHRIS YOUNG’s latest single is called “Raised On Country,” and he proves the title true in his new music video for the song, much of which was shot inside and outside of RYMAN HOSPITALITY PROPERTIES’ historic Country WSM-A/NASHVILLE transmitter building in BRENTWOOD, TN.
The clip, directed by PETER ZAVADIL, opens with a shot of the station’s distinctive, diamond-shaped BLAW-KNOX antenna, which was erected in 1932. The video then moves inside the transmitter building, where YOUNG and longtime bandmates KEVIN COLLIER and RYAN HASS are seen recording with the help of an excitable engineer. The song itself pays tribute Country music icons MERLE HAGGARD, WILLIE NELSON, JOE DIFFIE, GEORGE STRAIT, ALAN JACKSON and HANK WILLIAMS.
YOUNG, who grew up in the NASHVILLE area, has been a member of the GRAND OLE OPRY since 2017. WSM-A is the OPRY’s home. He said, “As a member of the OPRY, I was honored to be allowed to film ‘Raised On Country’ in and around the WSM radio tower and the same airwaves where songs from my musical icons have played over the years. It was a long day, and I had a lot of fun filming the video, even in the scenes where we had debris flying in our faces inside the studio.”
