CUMULUS Sports WGFX (104.5 THE ZONE)/NASHVILLE’s MIDDAY 180 show hosted a charity basketball tournament last THURSDAY (3/14) to raise $32,510 for the TENNESSEE chapter of the LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY.
The tournament, at EAST NASHVILLE MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL, challenged participants to play a version of H-O-R-S-E – in this case, “Z-O-N-E” – while raising funds for the charity. TENNESSEE TITANS punter BRETT KERN won the tournament and the grand prize of six suite tickets to the SEC men’s basketball championship game SUNDAY at NASHVILLE’s BRIDGESTONE ARENA; KERN promptly auctioned off the tickets and donated the proceeds to the charity.
MIDDAY 180 co-host JONATHAN HUTTON said, "What TeamHutton1045 and MIDDAY 180 were able to raise in the four-hour show was incredible. The listeners of 104.5 THE ZONE continue to raise the bar in support of our community. Best of all, every dollar raised went straight to the TENNESSEE chapter of the LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY, which continues to raise the bar for blood cancer research. Beating cancer is in our blood."
