Longtime WBLS/NEW YORK "OPEN LINE" weekend public affairs co-host BOB SLADE has passed away, the station announced SUNDAY (3/24).
SLADE, who died after battling kidney disease, began hosting "OPEN LINE" in 1989 as News Director at the old WRKS (98.7 KISS FM)/NEW YORK, moving to WBLS when WRKS was leased to ESPN in 2012 and the Urban AC format was merged into WBLS. He co-hosted the show alongside BOB PICKETT, with FATIYN MUHAMMAD as Executive Producer.
We are celebrating the life of a champion for our community, who started his radio career over 40 years ago, our dear #BobSlade who passed away this morning after being hospitalized over the past couple of weeks. Please keep his wife, family and friends in your Prayers today. pic.twitter.com/FofcpTrwoP
