The BERGEN RECORD is reporting that the BOROUGH OF POMPTON LAKES, NJ is transferring operation of currently Silent WGHT-A/POMPTON LAKES, NJ to the owner of Full Service WTBQ-A-W228CG/WARWICK, NY, FRANK R, TRUATT, for an undisclosed price under a lease-purchase arrangement with terms undisclosed, although Mayor MICHAEL SERRA told the paper that the assignee will be required to keep the station's "local flavor" and pay about $18,600 in taxes on the station's property for three years.
The station was a locally-programmed Oldies daytimer before going dark 15 months ago and being donated to the municipality. WTBQ Station Manager TAYLOR STERLING told the RECORD that WGHT may begin simulcasting WTBQ in about 10 days and will gradually split off to be more local.
