WUBE/Cincinnati Kicks Off 50th Anniversary Celebration With Jason Aldean Concert Announcement

HUBBARD Country WUBE (B-105)/CINCINNATI kicked off the celebration of its 50th anniversary in the format today with an on-air announcement that Country superstar JASON ALDEAN’s upcoming concert at RIVERBED MUSIC CENTER on THURSDAY, AUGUST 22ND will be the official “B-105 50th BIRTHDAY BASH.” ALDEAN joined THE BIG DAVE SHOW this morning (4/1) to reveal the news.

The show will also feature KANE BROWN, DEE JAY SILVER, and area native CARLY PEARCE, who grew up listening to B-105, and dreamed of one day being played on the station and performing on the RIVERBEND stage. Additionally, CINCINNATI Mayor JOHN CRANLEY declared it “B-105 Day” in the city.

The station began playing Country music in the TRI-STATE on April 1, 1969. The first Country song it played was “I’m Moving On” by HANK SNOW. The station will continue to mark the anniversary with events and special programming through the SPRING and SUMMER. Songs from the past five decades will air today to mark the occasion.

“It’s very rare for a radio station to remain in the same format for 50 years,” said HUBBARD/CINCINNATI VP/Market Manager MIKE FREDRICK. “For WUBE to celebrate this milestone, it’s a testimony to the outstanding Country music fans we have in the TRI-STATE. It also speaks volumes for the many dedicated professionals we’ve had on staff over these five decades. We’re all excited to move B-105 into the next 50 years of great Country radio!”

Tickets for the “BIRTHDAY BASH” go on sale FRIDAY, APRIL 5th at 10a (ET) through Riverbend.org. B-105 will also be giving away tickets every hour today from 9a through 5p. All ticket winners will join a grand prize drawing for their tickets to be upgraded into the general admission pit, plus a pair of passes to meet ALDEAN.
