KIM PETERSON, host at CUMULUS News-Talk WYAY (TALK 106.7)/ATLANTA, and his co-host PETE DAVIS have been suspended for three days for sexist comments about a female politician, reports the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION's RODNEY HO.
Rep. LUCY MCBATH (D-GA) tweeted out a clip of the exchange in question, in which co-host PETE DAVIS said, “You’re there to knock LUCY MCBATH back into the kitchen,” and "THE KIMMER" responded, “Yeah, go back to sewing stuff and leave my guns alone.” HO reports that the suspension came down from CUMULUS CEO MARY BERNER, and PETERSON returned from the suspension on THURSDAY (4/11), complaining that MCBATH used the incident for fundraising ("one of the sleaziest, stinkiest things I’ve ever heard of.") and is "trying to get me fired." The station has been sold to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION and will change format to Contemporary Christian when EMF closes on the purchase.
CUMULUS issued a statement saying, "The comments made on THE KIMMER SHOW regarding Representative MCBATH were unacceptable, offensive and not consistent with our values as a company. In accordance with company policy, KIM ('THE KIMMER') PETERSON, host, and PETE DAVIS, Co-Host, were suspended and will apologize to Representative MCBATH.”
