Former WPFB-A-F/MIDDLETOWN, OH and WPAY-A-F/PORTSMOUTH, OH owner DOUG BRADEN has passed away at 85, according to the MIDDLETOWN JOURNAL-NEWS. BRADEN died FRIDAY of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in BELLEFONTAINE, OH.
BRADEN moved from CALIFORNIA to OHIO to take over the family radio business after the passing of his father PAUL in 1985, converting the FM station from Religion to Country as "THE REBEL 105.9." That station, Classic Country WPFB-A, and Country WPAY (POWER COUNTRY 104)/PORTSMOUTH, OH were sold in 2011 to NORTHERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY for $6.75 million.
