Brian Wheeler Takes Leave From Mic For Remainder Of Portland Trail Blazers' Playoff Run

Longtime PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS radio play-by-play announcer BRIAN WHEELER has stepped away from the mic for the rest of the playoffs. The team's official statement did not indicate a reason for his absence, but WHEELER has taken medical leave for parts of the last two seasons, including the beginning of the present season.

TRAVIS DEMERS, who has filled in for WHEELER during the latter's medical leaves, will call the rest of the BLAZERS' playoff games, with former BLAZER MICHAEL HOLTON handling analysis.

The BLAZERS are heard on iHEARTMEDIA Sports KPOJ-A (AM 620 NBC SPORTS NORTHWEST RIP CITY RADIO)/PORTLAND and a 21-station network.
