Tim Conway, Comic Acting Legend And Father Of KFI/Los Angeles' Tim Conway Jr., Dies At 85

Condolences to iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES evening host TIM CONWAY JR. and his family on the passing of his father, legendary comic actor TIM CONWAY. The elder CONWAY died today (5/14) at 85.
After majoring in television and radio at BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIV. and serving in the ARMY, CONWAY SR. (born THOMAS CONWAY; he changed his first name to avoid confusion with actor TOM CONWAY) joined NBC affiliate KYW-TV (now WKYC-TV)/CLEVELAND as a producer in 1958, moving to crosstown then-CBS affiliate WJW-TV in 1960, working as writer and sidekick to voiceover legend and horror movie host ERNIE ANDERSON (“GHOULARDI”) before joining the cast of the ABC version of “THE STEVE ALLEN SHOW” in 1961 and then heading to HOLLYWOOD, where his role as Ensign Parker on “MCHALE’S NAVY” led to a long career on TV and in movies, notably on “THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW” and several shows of his own, winning six EMMY awards, most recently in 2008 as Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series for a "30 ROCK" appearance. He also starred in the successful “DORF” comedy video series and provided his voice to the "Barnacle Boy" character on “SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS” as well as guest voices for many other animated shows.
