Former iHEARTMEDIA Sports WDAE-A-W237CW/TAMPA afternoon host STEVE DUEMIG has passed away after a long battle with a brain tumor.
"THE BIG DOG," a former PGA golfer and a former host on THE GOLF CHANNEL and FOX SPORTS RADIO, began hosting in the TAMPA BAY market at the old Sports WFNS-A in 1991, moving to WDAE in 1996; he also served as color commentator for TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING hockey for two seasons. DUEMIG's wife JENNIFER's statement read, “Our beloved STEVE DUEMIG 'THE BIG DOG' went to heaven peacefully today. The entire DUEMIG family thanks you all for all your prayers, love and support.”
PD JOHN MAMOLA said, “We mourn the loss of an icon in not only TAMPA BAY radio, but the entire format of sports radio. ‘THE BIG DOG’ was an intelligent, brash, entertaining brand of sports talk that spawned a large following and sparked the minds of many looking to follow in his footsteps. God bless you STEVE! Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family of STEVE DUEMIG.”
