What's Next?

Things are in motion at CBS Classic Hits/Rhythmic AC hybrid WNEW (MIX 102.7)/NEW YORK. While many others are embracing WNEW's current musical direction, it would seem CBS Chairman & CEO JOEL HOLLANDER has his hand on the format wheel and is about to explore a "fresh" new direction.

The rumors have been flying that WNEW will go after CLEAR CHANNEL AC leviathan WLTW, or might explore Country, which the NASHVILLE music community would embrace with open arms.

What ALL ACCESS does know is that as of last FRIDAY (12/22) the entire fulltime airstaff at WNEW is now out, including:

6-9a -- MICHELLE VISAGE, JOE CAUSI (see NET NEWS 12/4)
9-1p -- EFREN SIFUENTES (efrendeejay@yahoo.com, 202-255-8549)
1-4p -- CAROL FORD
4-8p -- PACO LOPEZ

No word on how this specifically affects PD RICK MARTINI, or a timetable for the changes. Calls/emails are in to the appropriate folks, but so far no one's talking ... on the record.
