The NEW YORK MARKET RADIO BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION (NYMRAD) has released its quarterly "The State of the Market" report for first quarter 2019, collecting data on the region's economic status and some research on two radio advertising categories.
The report features statistics from NIELSEN's SCARBOROUGH on the Tourism and Travel category, showing that almost eight million NEW YORK radio listeners 18+ are planning to take a vacation in the next year and a third spend more than $2,500 annually on vacations. As for the Real Estate and Home Improvement category, 51% of NEW YORK radio listeners -- over 6.5 million -- over the age of 18 own their own home, with 9% planning to buy or sell a home in the next year.
The report also highlights the market's overall growth, with private employment up 2% for the quarter, with the greatest private job growth in education and health services. Industry is also expanding, highlighted by the opening of the HUDSON YARDS development on MANHATTAN's West Side, the PIER 55 park project, and the opening of a WEGMAN'S supermarket in the BROOKLYN NAVY YARD.
