CAPITAL BROADCASTING INC. News-Talk WGDJ-A-W254DA (TALK 1300 & 98.7 FM)/ALBANY, NY 4-6p (ET) host KEVIN MCCASHION has been pulled from the air for now after he posted a comment on social media insinuating that a girl's basketball player who died in a shooting at a cookout was somehow not an innocent victim.
The ALBANY TIMES UNION reports that MCCASHION posted a tweet last week about AYANNA HUNTER, the victim of a murder at a cookout, saying, "another.@timesunion W H I T E W A S H just an innocent basketball player ha ha" with a screenshot of a TiMES UNION story about the shooting and photos of HUNTER holding a stack of money.
CAPITOL BROADCASTING President PAUL VANDENBURGH wrote in a post at FACEBOOK that while he is "not responsible for my employees in their off hours and I am also not responsible for their commentary/actions on social media as this is on their time and it is their opinions/comments," the station has been criticized for MCCASHION's post and the company "understands the pain this has brought to people in the community and at the present time KEVIN's program is not on the air and we will deal with his future going forward. For those of you that are unfamiliar with TALK 1300, KEVIN has been with us for a year now and has been a fine addition but these are difficult circumstances and thus his program is presently off the air."
