The staff of SANTA MONICA COLLEGE noncommercial Triple A-News-Talk KCRW/SANTA MONICA-LOS ANGELES has declared its intent to unionize with SAG-AFTRA.
The KCRW content production staff, at its @wemakekcrw Twitter account, posted a statement that said, "The station is going through an exciting transformation, and we want to take an active part in it. We want a seat at the table to make the decisions that shape our lives. We want KCRW to attract and retain a strong, diverse workforce in an increasingly competitive industry.... We are dedicated to KCRW and look forward to working with management to build on the station's legacy, solidifying KCRW as a great place to work now and far into the future." The petition garnered signatures from 75% of the proposed bargaining unit.
KCRW President JENNIFER FERRO, who the staff tweeted "recognizes the overwhelming support for the union and has said she wants to work with us," issued her own statement reading, "KCRW has always been a place that succeeded through mutual respect and cooperation. These values won't change. We look forward to working together to make KCRW an even better institution."
