Congratulations to CUMULUS Country WFMS/INDIANAPOLIS, which is being recognized by the INDIANA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION (IBA) for its “impactful community service.” The recognition comes for the station’s “Ella’s Aid” campaign, “wherein listeners were motivated to sell lemonade across our listening area with collective proceeds to help cover medical expenses for ELLA WHISTLER, the NOBLESVILLE [IN] student and school shooting victim who survived after being shot seven times,” according to a news release.
In an internal memo to staff, OM CHRISTOPHER “BOOMER” LAYFIELD said, “Job #1 for our radio stations is to serve the communities in which we operate. When we’re able to do so effectively, it’s tremendously rewarding. When we’re also recognized for doing so, it’s incredibly humbling.”
The station will be recognized at the IBA’s Cardinal Community Service Award reception in August. Watch a video about the “Ella’s Aid” project here.
