Rumors have been flying about cuts at ENTERCOM, and ROBERTFEDER.COM is reporting some have hit the CHICAGO cluster, which includes News WBBM-A-WCFS, Sports WSCR-A (670 THE SCORE), Top 40 WBBM-F (B96), Triple A WXRT, Country WUSN (US 99), and Rhythmic AC WBMX (104.3 JAMS).
FEDER writes, "Not even the owner of CHICAGO’s top revenue-producing radio station is immune from financial pressures. ENTERCOM COMMUNICATIONS, parent company of all-news WBBM 780-AM/WCFS 105.9-FM, laid off eight employees here TUESDAY — five in traffic and continuity and three in sales."
ALL ACCESS doesn't have specific names, but FEDER notes another four positions in finance will be cut in AUGUST with other staff reductions on the way, according to insiders. If and when these cuts will make it to other markets is unknown.
In a note to employees, SVP/Market Mgr.-CHICAGO JIMMY DECASTRO wrote, “These are longtime co-workers and friends — we want to thank them for their years of hard work and wish nothing but the best for their collective futures.”
