THURSDAY (6/13), the TROPICANA RESORT & CASINO in ATLANTIC CITY was the site of the annual NEW JERSEY BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION luncheon and Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The class of 2019: BEASLEY BROADCAST GROUP CEO CAROLINE BEASLEY, SALEM RADIO SVP PHIL BOYCE, iHEARTRADIO Pres. DARREN DAVIS, TOWNSQUARE MEDIA AC WFPG/ATLANTIC CITY morning host EDDIE DAVIS, EMMIS COMMUNICATIONS Chairman JEFF SMULYAN, recently retired industry journalist and former WPST/TRENTON PD TOM TAYLOR, late talk show host extraordinaire BRUCE WILLIAMS and TOWNSQUARE MEDIA CEO BILL WILSON. And for the first time, the association named a Broadcaster of the Year, bestowing the honor on TOWNSQUARE Talk WPG/Atlantic City "Morning Mayor" HARRY HURLEY. He's been waking up THE JERSEY SHORE up since 1992.
During the luncheon, attendees were treated to a performance by SPIN DOCTORS front man (and NJ native) CHRIS BARRON, who also talked about what it's like to hear one of your songs on the radio, citing the state's WDHA, WPST and WRAT. Said BARRON, "I wish I could take that feeling and put it in a bottle. And then let every person in the world open it and take a sip."
Congrats to NJBA President & CEO PAUL ROTELLA and crew for an excellent two days.
