ALEX VALENTINE has announced his resignation from BIG MACHINE RECORDS, where he is Sr. Dir./SOUTHWEST Promotion. A veteran of more than 30 years in record promotion (and radio before that), VALENTINE has been with the label since JANUARY 2010 (NET NEWS 1/5/10), and previously did promotion for COLUMBIA NASHVILLE, ARISTA NASHVILLE, ISLAND DEF JAM and SANCTUARY MUSIC GROUP.
In a FACEBOOK post, VALENTINE writes, “A lifetime of thanks to SCOTT and SANDI BORCHETTA and my entire BIG MACHINE family for what was genuinely the time of my life! This family I speak of has brought you and the rest of humanity the most magnificent musical moments imaginable, and I had the privilege to witness it from the orchestra pit!
“While this move falls much closer toward a graduation than a retirement,” he continues, “I’ve been talking to SCOTT since APRIL about my decision to get to know the family I live with in TEXAS as well as I know the one I work with in NASHVILLE. Now, since I only have a couple of high school years left with two happy and healthy teenagers in our house, starting JULY 1st, I must do all I can to learn as much as possible from them before they are set free into the wild.”
VALENTINE tells ALL ACCESS, “I do wanna keep a hand in the business simply because this season will pass and I might want to get back in on some level. But, that might well be on the radio side as well. Can’t get rid of me that easy!” He’ll finish his time with the label at the end of this week. Reach him here.
