Longtime San Francisco Radio/TV Sports Anchor Bob Fouts Passes Away At 97

BOB FOUTS, who called SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS football on radio and TV in the 1950s, was a radio and TV sports anchor in SAN FRANCISCO for decades, and was the father of football Hall of Fame quarterback and CBS football analyst DAN FOUTS, died SUNDAY of natural causes in SAN FRANCISCO at 97, according to the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE.
FOUTS served as a 49ERS' announcer, alternately on radio and TV, starting in 1946 (when the team was in the old ALL-AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE) as analyst alongside BUD FOSTER on KYA-A and with ROY STOREY on KFRC-A and later handling play-by-play next to LON SIMMONS on KSFO-A through 1960. He also anchored sports for KSFO, KYA, and KCBS-A, and on CBS affiliate KPIX-TV and ABC O&O KGO-TV. More recently, he reported for ABC RADIO.
