Max Media's Southern Illinois Cluster Hit With Ransomware Attack

MAX MEDIA's RIVER RADIO cluster in MARION-CARBONDALE, IL has been hit by a ransomware attack.

THE SOUTHERN ILLINOISAN reports that the cluster, which includes News-Talk WJPF-A-WCIL-A-W258DP-W300DY, Top 40 WCIL-F (101.5 CIL-FM), Classic Hits WUEZ (MAGIC 95.1), Country WOOZ (Z100), and Sports WXLT (103.5 ESPN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS)/MARION-CARBONDALE, received a message on THURSDAY saying that the audio file system on the stations' computer system had been encrypted, along with a demand for payment in Bitcoin.

GM STEVE FALAT told the SOUTHERN that the station has notified the FBI of the situation.
