At a press conference tonight (5/22) at NASHVILLE event space RUBY, hit songwriter and producer NICOLLE GALYON announced that she is partnering with BIG LOUD RECORDS for a new imprint to be called SONGS & DAUGHTERS. It will be NASHVILLE’s first female-focused label of note. GALYON will be Pres. of the venture, which she conceptualized with BIG LOUD partner SETH ENGLAND.
Their first signing is 22-year-old CANADIAN artist MADISON KOZAK, a student at NASHVILLE’s BELMONT UNIVERSITY. Her debut single, “First Last Name,” drops on FRIDAY, JULY 26th. KOZAK is also signed to BIG LOUD’s publishing division, BIG LOUD SHIRT.
The existing BIG LOUD team is expected to handle radio promotion, marketing and other functions for SONGS & DAUGHTERS.
GALYON is a writer on such Country hits as DAN & SHAY’s “Tequila,” MIRANDA LAMBERT’s “Automatic,” KENNY CHESNEY’s “All The Pretty Girls,” LADY ANTEBELLUM’s “Heart Break” and the LAMBERT/KEITH URBAN duet “We Were Us,” among many others.
“The heart behind SONGS & DAUGHTERS is to be rooted and liberated at the same time,” said GALYON at the launch party. “For me, this role is an extension of something I already am — and that’s a mother. I hope to nurture the song, I hope to nurture the daughter, and I hope that the artists matter just as much as the music that we’re making. SONGS & DAUGHTERS is a bigger way to tell young female creatives, ‘Yes you can’.”
“NICOLE GALYON has become a beacon to what this community is all about,” said ENGLAND. “I’ve watched firsthand how she has encouraged young artists to be confident, to be themselves, and — most importantly — never be afraid to speak their truth. It’s been our vision to eventually create unique and strategic partnerships with like-minded professionals. NICOLLE is ready to take the next step in her professional journey, and BIG LOUD couldn’t be more thankful she chose us to be her partner.”
