KBLX/San Francisco OM/PD Elroy Smith Admits Mistake; Makes Public Apology To Wendy Williams

BONNEVILLE Urban AC KBLX (102.9 THE SOUL OF THE BAY)/SAN FRANCISCO OM/PD ELROY SMITH welcomed talk show queen WENDY WILLIAMS to the station and apologized for making a mistake in not hiring her back when he was PD at Urban WILD-A/BOSTON 30 years ago. WILLIAMS was a student at NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY in BOSTON. She wanted to work for him as a DJ. but SMITH decided not to hire her. 

This past FRIDAY (7/27), SMITH apologized to WENDY in front of a KBLX live audience. 

SMITH said, “This was a very special moment when I genuinely expressed to WENDY my apology. I remember hearing her on her college station WRBB. I thought that she was compelling at that time, which was in 1985. To date, I just do not remember why I rejected her. If I had to do it over again, I am certain that my decision would be totally different. A true lesson learned.”
