Phoenix Magazine's 'Best Of The Valley' Winners Include KJZZ, Ian Camfield, KUPD, Tim And Jake Montemayor, Luke Lapinsky, Al McCoy

PHOENIX MAGAZINE has released its "Best of the Valley" list for 2019 in its AUGUST issue, and there were radio winners in both the editors' and readers' picks.
Editors gave one award to radio, with "Best Reason to Envision a Future for Radio" going to RIO SALADO COLLEGE News-Talk-Jazz-Blues KJZZ/PHOENIX winning for its program for teaching teens about radio, "Spot 127."
Readers voted on winners in five radio categories, with HUBBARD Alternative KDKB (ALT AZ 93.3)/PHOENIX's IAN CAMFIELD winning "Best Morning Radio DJ/Team" (with the magazine noting that syndicated iHEARTMEDIA Top 40 KZZP (104.7 KISS FM) morning team JOHNJAY AND RICH are the all-time leaders in that category); HUBBARD Active Rock KUPD/PHOENIX taking "Best Radio Station"; CRC Sports KQFN-A-K257CD-K240EU (1580 THE FANATIC)/PHOENIX's TIM and JAKE MONTEMAYOR's "MONTY IN THE MORNING" named "Best Talk Radio Show"; BONNEVILLE Sports KMVP-F (ARIZONA SPORTS 98.7)/PHOENIX's LUKE LAPINSKI named "Best Sports Talk Show Host"; and PHOENIX SUNS radio voice AL MCCOY was picked as "Best Play-By-Play Announcer" (with the magazine tacking on the note "Since, forever," honoring MCCOY's long run as the SUNS voice, with the coming season to be his 47th with the team).
