KZOT (1180 The Zone 2)/Omaha Renews Deal To Air University Of Nebraska Omaha Basketball, Hockey

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA OMAHA sports will continue to air on NRG MEDIA Sports KZOT-A (1180 THE ZONE 2)/OMAHA under an extension signed by the station and rights holder LEARFIELD IMG COLLEGE's OMAHA SPORTS PROPERTIES. The MAVERICKS' hockey and men's and women's basketball games will air on THE ZONE 2, with games bumped by conflicts airing on sister Sports KOZN-A (1620 THE ZONE) or News-Talk KOIL-A and streamed online.
NRG OMAHA GM MARK SHECTERLE said, "We are extremely excited to continue our partnership with UNO. As the sports leader in OMAHA, it is important that we associate our stations with great sports programs like UNO. We look forward to broadcasting UNO sports on our stations this upcoming year, and many years to come."
UNO Vice Chancellor/Athletics TREV ALBERTS said, "NRG MEDIA has provided our hockey and basketball teams with a reliable radio home for many years now, and we are pleased to continue this mutually beneficial relationship. NRG MEDIA is a recognized leader in sports broadcasting in OMAHA, and its stations allow our fans to follow the MAVERICKS, both over the air and through live streaming, when they can't be at a game."
1620 THE ZONE morning co-host and MAVERICKS men's basketball play-by-play announcer GARY SHARP said, "We're proud to continue our partnership with UNO Athletics. This is an exciting time to be involved with the MAVERICKS, and we are looking forward to delivering quality programming for the fans." SHARP is returning for his sixth season calling MAVERICKS basketball, with KYLER ERICKSON joining as analyst. DONNY BAARNS is moving from women's basketball to hockey play-by-play alongside analyst TERRY LEAHY and reporter LESTER ST. JAMES; JON SCHRINER will call women's basketball.
