Thanks in part to a $3 million donation from the COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (CMA), the 10th floor of NASHVILLE’s MONROE CARELL JR. CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AT VANDERBILT has been newly opened to patients. Members of the music industry -- including radio's MIKE MCVAY, KURT JOHNSON and BECKY BRENNER -- were able to tour the space on MONDAY, AUGUST 12th.
In 2014, the hospital launched a $40 million campaign to fund the addition of four new floors atop its existing facility. The following year, BROOKS & DUNN’s KIX BROOKS and LADY ANTEBELLUM’s HILLARY SCOTT announced the CMA’s gift to support the expansion. Now, after a nearly three-year construction, the first of those floors has opened, housing the 40,000-square-foot Pediatric Heart Institute.
On the MONDAY tour, CMA Board members, CMA Foundation Board members and CMA staff got a first look at patient rooms, a nurses’ station and a family waiting area named in CMA’s honor.
“The COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION is honored to support the beautiful addition of the Pediatric Heart Institute at MONROE CARELL JR. CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AT VANDERBILT,” said CMA CEO SARAH TRAHERN. “VANDERBILT has been a longtime partner of CMA, and we are excited for the life-changing impact this new facility will have on families and the community.”
